Light Up The Grill!

British summertime is here and we’re itching to get the grill out and we all are ready to indulge in some roasted meat to enjoy the holiday season.

The weather draws us outside for family meals, get-togethers and good times. Folks around the country clean their grills and start their fires.

Hurray!! It's barbecue season!

Grilling displays are popping up in stores all across the country and for good reason. The grocery industry is positioned to win the grilling basket throughout the entire year. Barbecue cuts of meat are growing 10 times faster than the total fresh meat category as a whole.

Here are some tips for a great summer BBQ season to share with shoppers:

-Purchase some fresh good meat.

-Keep your grill clean.

-Clean fire plus clean grill equals great food.

-Keep the area around your grill clear and keep the kids away. No one likes burned hands.

-Have the fire extinguisher nearby, just in case.

Here are some recipes that could be helpful for you to get your bbq meat juicy and perfect!

Chicken wings are arguably the king of finger-foods. What makes chicken wings so irresistible? Perhaps it’s the combination of crispy skin, juicy chicken, drool-worthy sauce, and rich and creamy dip.

In fact, chicken wings are so good and here’s how I marinated it.

Ingredients ~

1kg chicken wings cleaned and washed

1/2 tbsp soya sauce

1.5 tsp salt

1tbsp brown sugar

1tbsp lemon juice

1tbsp hot and spicy sauce

1tbsp sesame oil

1tsp onion powder

2tsp garlic powder

1tsp fresh minced ginger

1tsp cayenne

1tsp paprika

1sp chillie powder

Method~

Mix liquids together in a medium-sized bowl then whisk garlic powder and ginger. Place chicken wings in a large tray pour marinate in and let it marinate overnight

Grill until it’s tender inside and crispy outside.

Close your eyes, and picture the perfect burger.

Is it a thin diner-style hamburger patty, or a thick steakhouse-sized burger? Seared to the peak of juiciness on a grill

Who doesn’t love a big, tender, juicy steakhouse burger? Problem is, they’re difficult to replicate at home because of most steakhouses.

Here’s a tried and tested recipe for burger patty packed with flavour and reliably juicy, even when cooked to well-done.

Ingredients ~

1/2 kg Mince lamb/beef and 1/2 kg Mince chicken.

A handful of coriander and mint

5-6 Green chillies depending on how spicy you want it.

3-5 cloves of garlic

2 tblsp of Garam masala

1 small egg

Method ~

Use 1/2 of the minced beef and 1/2 of the chicken and mince it again in the food processor with garlic, all the herbs, green chillies, and egg. Once thoroughly minced mix it with the remaining beef and chicken. Add salt, Garam masala and mix well, refrigerate for a couple of hours. Set out a baking sheet, lined with wax paper or foil, to hold the patties. Wet your hands each time before you make the patties to avoid the mix sticking to your hands. One at a time, gather the patty mix and press firmly into patties of your desired thickness. You typically want hamburger patties to be slightly larger than the buns they’ll be served on since they’ll shrink a bit in the cooking process. Place the formed patties on the baking sheet. With thick patties, press a dent in the centre of each patty, so they don’t puff up while cooking.

While you’ll love the terrific savoriness of these homemade hamburgers on their own, they are excellent for loading with your favourite toppings to create truly one great burger. This is sure to be your go-to recipe for easy burger patties from scratch!
