Trust in His promise

The mother of Musa AS was given two commands: to breastfeed her baby and to place him into a basket and throw him into the river. The first command made sense, and the second one - not so much, but notice that she didn’t pick and choose - she obeyed her Lord regardless. No doubt, she was anxiety-ridden and overwhelmed, and Allah validated her emotions by giving her two pieces of counsel to strengthen her heart; do not be afraid and do not be grief-stricken. Interestingly, He also made two promises; that baby Musa AS will be returned to her and that he will become a Messenger. Here, Allah is teaching us that despite what it might look like, in the hardest of times, there are spectacular blessings in turning to Allah and obeying Him even when we are struggling to comprehend the rationale behind His commands.

Because we see that after patiently persevering and fulfilling the commands that she was given, Allah, out of His Mercy and Benevolence, reunited the mother with her child. Instead of a life trying to keep her son from being killed, she was now protected by the same people who wanted to kill him. Moreover, she was now an employee in the Royal Palace and was being paid to do what she would have done anyway, subhanAllah. Allah not only fulfilled His promise, but He gave her even more.

The key is to have faith in the plan of Allah, be mindful of Him, thank Him, praise Him, turn to Him in repentance, and trust with complete certainty that the promise of Allah is true, even if we cannot see it in the throes of hardship.

As Allah says in the Quran,

"Patiently, then, persevere - for the Promise of Allah is true, and ask forgiveness for your faults, and celebrate the praises of your Lord in the evening and in the morning." (40:55)

Trust in His Promise and rely on Him completely, for He will put your troubled heart at ease and give you more than you could ever imagine.
